Frequently Asked Questions

What are the minimum requirements to be a tutor?
Are you excited about tutoring? Are you comfortable with the basic concepts of the subject in which you want to tutor? Then you’re all set!
Do I need to have previous tutoring experience to be a part of Wolverine Tutors?
Nope! No experience necessary.
What is the weekly time commitment for tutoring?
Tutors typically tutor for 2 hours a week. There are also optional club meetings for social activities once a month.
Can I choose which subject to teach?
Yes, tutors always pick subjects they are comfortable with.
Are tutors paid?
No, all of our tutors are volunteers.
What time of the day do I tutor? What if I have afternoon classes or classes during the day?
Time slots are flexible! You get to choose your time slots in order to work around your class schedule! If you’re working in a classroom, it can be anytime during normal school hours. If you’re working one-on-one with a student, it could be after school.
What if I start tutoring a student and I don’t know how to help them?
It’s totally fine! Sometimes we don’t remember geometry equations or we haven’t read the book that the student is reading for class. It’s okay to ask the teacher (if available) for a quick reminder on the subject or do a quick online search. Be honest and remember that any advice you can give will be valuable!
How do background checks work?
Background checks are conducted through the school system at which you will be tutoring. We will collect any needed information from you, then send it along for your background check so that you can start tutoring!
How much are dues for the Fall 2020 semester?
$5
Who can I reach out to if I have more questions?
